How is a Kyphoplasty Performed?
The kyphoplasty procedure, although surgical, is a fairly simple injectable treatment. During the procedure, a small needle will be inserted into the bone, using a balloon-like device to restore its normal shape. Then, a cement solution will be injected into the bone, strengthening and repairing the treated area. The kyphoplasty treatment typically takes about an hour, but the treatment time can vary depending on the extent of treatment necessary.

What is Recovery Like After a Kyphoplasty?
After a kyphoplasty, patients are encouraged to take at least a day off of normal activities. Exercise, heavy lifting, and other strenuous activities should be avoided for at least a few days. You may notice some swelling, soreness or bruising in the treatment area, but these symptoms are to be expected and should fade within a few days of treatment.
