BOTOX® INJECTIONS

BOTOX® INJECTIONS

Although Botox® is commonly used for cosmetic purposes, it also has several uses as a pain management treatment.
Botox® injections are a pain management treatment that involves the injection of a neuromodulator called botulinum toxin.

This treatment blocks nerve signals to the brain that cause muscle contractions. Even though this treatment is typically used for cosmetic purposes, Botox® can also be used for migraines, neck pain, and other muscle-related pain. Upon injection, Botox® will cause the affected muscles to relax, causing a long-term reduction in pain.

  • What is the Botox® Injection Treatment Like?

The first step of the Botox® injection treatment is applying a local anesthetic to the treatment area. This helps to relieve any discomfort that may occur during the injection process. Once the skin is numbed, an injection will be administered into the areas of the body where muscle pain is experienced. This process only takes a few minutes, and the entire Botox® procedure will be completed in less than an hour. After your treatment, there is no downtime necessary and you will be able to resume all normal activities. You may notice some minor swelling or bruising in the treatment area, but these effects typically fade within a day or two.

  • What Kind of Results Can I Expect from Botox® Injections?

After your Botox® injection treatment, it can take a few days to notice results, as the Botox® formula may not take effect for a few days. Once the Botox® formula becomes active in the body, you will notice a reduction in pain in the treated areas. If you are receiving Botox® for migraines, you should notice a reduction in the frequency and severity of your headaches. The results from Botox® typically last about four to six months, and can be easily repeated to maintain results.
